10 DIY Tips for Cleaning Your Home with Essential Oils
1. Wipe your windows clean
Are you tired of streaky windows and smudges that just won't come off? Don't worry, Moms!
Simply mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 1 cup of water, and add ten drops of Lemon essential oil in a spray bottle. Spray it onto the glass and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.
Additionally, why not make your own cleaning wipes? These are a total game-changer: not only are they safe and easy to make, but you can store them in an air-tight container so you can whip them out anytime you need to tackle a mess in a jiffy.

Ingredients
Instructions:
Cut the paper towel in half widthwise with a serrated or electric knife.
Combine water, Fractionated Coconut Oil, and essential oil, and dōTERRA On Guard Foaming Hand Wash in a small bowl.
Pour mixture over paper towels and cover with an airtight lid. Let mixture absorb for 10 minutes.
Turn the container over and let it sit for another 10 minutes.
Remove and discard card board tube. Pull wipes from the center of the roll when ready to use.
2. Switch your air filter
Do you ever worry about the air quality in your home? If it’s been a while since you’ve replaced your air filter, now’s the time to switch it out.
Here’s a tip: Add three drops of
dōTERRA’s Purify essential oil to your air filter. (Check your user’s manual first!) This essential oil will help keep the air fresh and help protect your family from harmful pollutants.
3. Dust and polish your furniture
Looking for a safe and cost-effective way to clean and polish your furniture? I have the perfect cleaner to keep your wood furniture looking its best - and you don't have to go out and purchase expensive cleaners either.

4. Clean your countertops

DIY Dishwasher Detergent
Ingredients
- 1 cup super washing soda
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 cup kosher salt
- ½ cup citric acid
- 1 glass mason jar (32 oz)
- 30 drops of Lemon essential oil
Instructions
Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Add the lemon oil and mix well. Make sure there are no clumps.
Pour into a 32 oz glass jar for storage.
Use 1 tablespoon of mixture in the soap dispenser on your dishwashing machine.
6. Make your stainless steel appliances shine
Moms, tired of trying to get those pesky fingerprints off of your stainless steel appliances? This simple cleaning tip will brighten your home and make your kitchen look sparkling and brand new.
Try this out: Mix six drops of
lemon essential oil into a spray bottle of undiluted white vinegar.
Spray your appliances and wipe following the grain of the stainless steel, and you’ll have sparkling clean surfaces in no time!
7. Get your toilets sparkling clean
Moms, it's time to take your toilet cleaning to a new level using an essential oil! Not only will you get a sparkling clean toilet, but you can rest assured that you're also using safe and natural ingredients!
Here is the secret: Combine ½ cup of baking soda, ten drops of
Tea tree oil, and ¼ cup of white vinegar directly into the bowl.
Get scrubbing! The vinegar and baking soda will react, leaving your toilets shining in no time.
8. Keep your tub and tile clean and shiny
Do you dread the weekly bathroom cleaning? Or are you tired of using all the harsh chemicals to get your tub and tile sparkling? Well, you have to try this DIY cleaner!
Try this instead: Combine 1 cup of white vinegar, four teaspoons of castile soap, and ten drops of
Tea tree and
Eucalyptus essential oils in a glass spray bottle. Shake well!
Spray generously on the tub and tile. Allow to sit for 5–10 minutes, and wipe clean. No more harsh chemicals and no more scrubbing for hours!
9. Freshen up the scent in your home
Aside from cleaning your home with essential oils, you can also use them to make it smell great!
If your home smells stale, keep your linens and air smelling fresh by making your own linen and air spray with simple ingredients!
Get these items: two cups of distilled water, two tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and 15 drops of
Lavender essential oil.
Mix them together and spray your linens or any areas of your home you'd like. Not only will it make your home smell great, but it's also a great way to get your kids involved in a fun, easy project.
