Productivity Tips for Work-From-Home Moms
Are you a work-from-home mom? Not an easy feat, right?
You have to balance taking care of everything in the home while making sure you’ve got everything covered at work.
Not to mention the little one running all around or wanting to join your Zoom calls!
I understand the load work-from-home moms face, so I thought of sharing some practical tips to make the journey a little bit more pleasant and lighter for you.
In this article, let me share with you some ideas you can do to make working from home a bliss and a blessing, both for your family, your clients, and for you while minimizing stress!
Stress-Minimizing Tips for Work-From-Home Moms
Create a Dedicated Workspace
There’s a saying that you shouldn’t bring your work to your home. What about the people who are working from home??
That’s a joke we keep laughing about; there’s a way to leave and not bring your work while working from home – and that’s by setting up a designated and organized workspace at home!
For example, if you have an extra room in your home, dedicate that as your “home office”, where you’ll do all the “work stuff”. If you don’t have one, maybe a small spot in your living room will work!
The bottom line is that you don’t make it a habit to sprinkle your “work vibes” all over the place.
And you can still feel that you’re at home, even though you’re working from home.
Establish a Work Schedule
Second, create and stick to your work schedule.
Working from home is overly romanticized these days, saying that there are types of WFH jobs that allow them to work anytime. That’s true, but it’s a trap, especially for moms.
The thing is that if you don’t establish a specific routine to structure your workday, you will become lax, procrastinating tasks or things you ought to do, then cramming when it’s dinner time or family time.
That increases stress levels, so I’d say it’s not a good path to take.
So, to reduce stress, set your working schedule and follow it as closely as you can.
Then when working hours are over, you can freely savor the moments with your family, especially the little ones.
Set Boundaries and Communicate
This tip is closely related to the previous one. If you establish a work schedule, you can then communicate it to your colleagues and even family members!
Doing so will help you avoid unnecessary burdens, anxiety, and stress because you know your colleagues and family understand the time you’re available for work and for your personal time.
Prioritize Tasks with a To-Do List
Yes, learning how to prioritize and make your daily to-do list never gets out of style!
Ever had a work day when you’re just bombarded with tasks that you lose your sense of direction for the day?
That usually happens with work-from-home moms, so it is important that you form the habit of organizing tasks per priority.
To increase your productivity, make sure you line up all the most important things that need to be done at work, and then do them.
Stay Active and Take Breaks
As they say, sitting is the new smoking.
Instead of staying sitting the whole day, make sure you also take quick breaks! Stand up, stretch, take a quick walk around the house.
These small acts will get your heart to pump blood more healthily and help you stay physically active. We’ve got to live our best lives, so make sure you watch yourself too, Mom!
Celebrate Achievements, Big and Small
Not everyone appreciates this, but having the right mindset at work, especially an attitude of gratitude changes everything.
Learn to appreciate your hard work. Celebrate your accomplishments, whether they be big or small.
Did you just close a deal? Finished a report?
Produced several videos for a YouTube channel you’re working on? They’re all worth celebrating!
You don’t have to be extravagant about it, just a cone of ice cream or a favorite fruit smoothie will be fantastic.
The important thing is that you see and appreciate your worth, and it feels liberating and fueling to the soul. Right?
Essential Oils for Focus and Relaxation
If you haven’t thought about it, essential oils can actually perk up the focus you need while working from home!
Essential oils offer a natural and effective way to enhance concentration and productivity, like
Peppermint and
Rosemary. They are known for their stimulating properties, helping to clear the mind and sharpen focus.
Try diffusing a blend of
Peppermint and
Wild Orange for an invigorating boost, or mix
Rosemary and Lemon for a refreshing scent that promotes mental clarity.
